The Day When Everyone is a Drunken Leprechaun

Beer in FloridaThis isn’t a post about which beers to drink or which to avoid or where to go on St. Patrick’s Day.

But I did want to remind everyone to be careful. There’s a whole lotta drinkin’ going on out there, so please: know your limits before you start. Don’t drive if you’ve had too much. In fact, try to avoid driving at all, especially tonight; there will be a lot of amateur drinkers on the road who don’t know their limits.

If you are going out to party, you should know the routine by now. Designate a sober driver. Use a taxi or public transportation. Go to a pub within walking distance.

And if you think you might be over-imbibing, keep this number handy: 1-800-AAA-HELP. That’s the number for the AAA Auto Club South Tow to Go Program. They’ll send a tow truck out to take you and your car home safely, at no charge. You don’t even have to be a member.  It’s available throughout Florida, Georgia, and Middle and Western Tennessee through Sunday.

I know a lot of this blog’s readers are not big supporters of Budweiser or its products, but let’s give them some props for sponsoring this program, which likely saves lives and almost certainly saves folks from a night in jail and a DUI conviction.

I’d really like to see you all back here tomorrow. Have fun, be safe, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
