Cigar City Brewery in Tampa just announced to the world a new venture: a Cigar City Brewpub on North Dale Mabry Highway.
The Tampa craft brewer has released few details other than the address and a new Facebook page for the brewpub. According to a post at BeerStreetJournal.com, the new restaurant/brewery will have on onsite brewing system and is scheduled to open in January 2013. (See Update below)
A Google search reveals that the physical address, 15491 N. Dale Mabry Highway, is a former TGI Friday’s restaurant.
The Cigar City Brewpub operating in Airside C at Tampa International Airport serves food, but the tasting room at the main brewery is not licensed to serve food on-site, though it frequently hosts local food trucks.
UPDATE: A Tampa Bay Times story unveiled a few new details about the planned Cigar City Brewpub.
The highlights:
- The brewpub is expected to open in late February 2013.
- The menu is being designed and will focus on Tampa Cuban cuisine.
- The onsite brewery will produce beer 100 gallons at a time. (My calculations put that at a little more than 2 barrels).
