Well, if you’re reading this the Wedding Royale has concluded, unless Prince William got cold feet and left Kate at the altar. So now we can concentrate on the real news. And by “real news,” I mean craft beer in Florida.
Now On Tap
Brewer’s Pizza in Orange Park (a suburb of Jacksonville) just put its first house-brewed beer on tap: Moon Dance Stout. The restaurant has been serving a bunch of craft beer since it opened, but now its brewing system is online. I’ve penciled in a road trip to that area next month, so if it happens, I’ll definitely stop by Brewer’s Pizza and give you a report.
Double the Geekiness
Finally, an event to finally bring together the “Star War”s geek and the beer geek. I’m speaking of “Low Brow Star Wars Art Extravaganza” at Mr. Beery’s Sarasota. There will be a exhibition of “Star Wars”-inspired art by Kyle Cross and Brian Braun, a raffle for bottles of New England Brewing’s much-coveted Imperial Stout Trooper, a showing of the trilogy (I’m assuming the “good one”), and much more. Details here. Oh, and feel free to attend in casual Cantina costume.
Now in Bottles
Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., Swamp Head Brewery in Gainesville will hold its first bottle release. The beer will be Saison Du Swamp, described as a “Floridian interpretation of the traditional Belgian harvest ale.” Fewer than 800 bottles will be available.
More Craft Beer in Sarasota
I filled in this week for the vacationing Alan Shaw, the Ticket Sarasota Beer Geek columnist. In the column, I wrote about a new craft beer bar in Sarasota called Hoppy Endings. Here’s the link.
That’s it for this week’s Beer Bites.
Reminder: Please use our free interactive calendar to promote your upcoming craft beer events. The link’s at the top of this page.

Until next time, Florida, remember: We are here! We are Beer!
