More Epcot Food & Wine Festival Craft Beer Hints

Beer in Florida photo by Gerard WalenBeer in Florida found another sliver of information about the craft beer that will be served at the 2011 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at the World Showcase section of the Walt Disney World park.

Debra Martin Koma, senior editor of the AllEars.Net blog, recently interviewed Marianne Hunnel, the festival’s event content development manager.

The story noted that the festival has been shifting the past few years to include more spirits and of course, more craft beer.

“There has been such an incredible spin in the food and beverage world regarding beer,” Hunnel said in Koma’s story. “It’s almost being treated similar to wines now – there are even certifications you can get for learning about the various beers.”

Hunnel added that there one booth will feature eight craft beers from North America, including brews from Canada, Louisiana, New Hampshire, and Colorado. Though this sounds like a disappointing followup from last year’s “15 Beers for 15 Years” booth, there likely will be more crafts at other booths, and of course international offerings from various countries represented at the festival.

This is pure speculation, but judging from last year’s offerings and the areas she mentioned, we’re guessing we’ll see Unibroue from Canada; Abita from Louisiana; Redhook from New Hampshire; and as far as Colorado, your guess is as good as ours. All we know is that we can eliminate beer that’s not distributed in Florida, but that still leaves plenty of options including Boulder Beer, Avery, Twisted Pine and Great Divide.

I’ll post more news about the craft beer at the festival as I hear about it.

The 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will take place September 30 to November 12.
